Hello, my name is Debbie Loring, and I have spent the last 25 years working as a counsellor, helping individuals from all walks of life navigate the complexities of emotional wellbeing. Now based in the stunning Lake District in Cumbria, I work with people not only across the northwest, from Manchester to Liverpool, Leeds and worldwide via Zoom.

Today, I would like to talk about a subject that touches many of us at some point in our lives – grief. While grief is often associated with the loss of a loved one, there are many different forms of grief that can affect us just as deeply. It’s important to acknowledge that grief is not limited to the passing away of someone close. It can arise from various life events and changes.

For some, grief comes from the departure of a close friend who moves to a new country or part of the UK. For others, it may stem from the loss of a job due to redundancy or other factors. Additionally, the ending of a meaningful relationship can bring about intense feelings of grief. In all these cases, grief is a natural response to significant life changes, and it is something we all need to process in our own time.

My role as a counsellor is to guide you through these experiences, helping you understand that grief follows a process. While the passage of time often plays a part in healing, there is more to the journey than simply waiting for time to pass. Together, we can explore the tools and techniques that will support you through these changes, helping you find acceptance and peace.

Grief, by its nature, brings change – changes in circumstances, relationships, and even our sense of self. These shifts can feel overwhelming at times, but they also offer the opportunity for growth. The work I do is focused on helping you integrate these changes in a way that feels empowering. By developing strategies to cope with grief, you will begin to feel stronger, more balanced, and more confident in your ability to move forward.

If you resonate with what I’ve shared and feel ready to begin working through the grief in your life, I invite you to reach out. You are not alone in this journey. I am right here for you. Together, we can find ways to restore balance and strength as you embrace the changes that life brings.
